Scope

The Special Session on Simulation and Interaction in Intelligent Environments (SIMIE) aims to bring together researchers and practitioners working in innovative technologies that facilitate human communication interaction with machines, environments and other humans. Ambient Intelligence, Multimedia, Virtual Reality and Robotics are becoming more and more important areas of technological development for corporations as well as for universities. Research is active in these challenging areas and applications are numerous in engineering as well as in health care, arts, and other areas. There are well-know examples of immersive virtual environments and telepresence systems such as in robotics, health care and other domains, making it easier to establish collaborative and intelligent environments where people can interact with each other and with artificial agents as well. For exemple , businesses can achieve significant travel cost reductions through the use of virtual meetings. In industrial or remote environments it is possible to tele-operate robots in situations that could be dangerous for humans. SIMIE encourages authors to submit papers describing original work based on diverse perspectives related to HCI, especially involving Virtual Reality, Tele-robotics, Ambient Intelligence, and related technologies, including recent advances in research, applications and tools.
